CDO Workforce coordinates and focuses employment, training and education development resources across three counties, providing service to employed people, unemployed people and employers alike. Our goal is to improve the long-term growth and development of the work force.
The CDO WorkForce, in conjunction with the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce and DCMO BOCES, is hosting a Job and Resource Fair on Wednesday, May 23 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm at DCMO BOCES Harrold Campus in Masonville.
Employers will be connected to a viable workforce consisting of recent high school and college graduates as well as adults who are eager to obtain employment.

Be prepared to interview applicants, accept resumes, and offer advice about how to prepare for employment with your company.
Event promotion will be targeted to recent college and high school graduates, as well as job-seeking adults.

Congratulations to the successful completers of the Manufacturing Basics Certification Training held last month in conjunction between CDO Workforce, SUNY Broome and the Otsego Chamber of Commerce.
There were 16 participants in the training, all local dislocated workers, which despite challenging weather and road conditions completed and graduated the two-week intensive training.
Topics covered in the training included Hand Tool Usage, Blueprint Interpretation, Reading Measuring Devices, Shop Math, Quality Control, Basic Computer, MS Excel, Interpersonal Communication, and Technical Writing, all areas of need reported by local employers.
Upon completion of the training a Job Fair was held on March 16th, in which students were given the opportunity to meet directly with employers from the Chenango, Delaware, and Otsego County areas.
The Job Fair was well-received and attended by both students and the public.

There will be a Manpower Recruitment on Tuesday, March 6th ((Originally scheduled for Friday, 3/2/2018 - but rescheduled to due a possible winter storm)), From 9am – 12pm at the Norwich CDO Workforce Center.
We will be scheduling interviews for Manpower during the time period of 9am – 11am. Manpower is willing to see walk-ins during the time period of 11am-12pm.

SUNY Broome Community College is offering a free Manufacturing Basics Training program, funded by a NYS Department of Labor grant, to be held at the Otsego Chamber of Commerce, Oneonta, NY.
This training program is two weeks long and begins March 5th - 16th.
The training components cover a number of areas identified by local companies as a "plus" to being hired by their companies.
Successful completion of this two week program guarantees set-aside interview time with manufacturing companies at a job fair following the training. The job fair will be held on March 16, from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM at the Otsego Chamber of Commerce. The job fair is open to all. To view/download details about the job fair, click here.

Our goal is to help job seekers not just find a job, but develop and manage a career. That means helping them when they have a job and when they are looking. We also strive to help employers find the workers they need quickly and the resources to improve training, workforce retention and workforce restructuring.
A DRC is a Disability Resource Coordinator, someone who helps individuals with disabilities find employment.
High School Equivalency (HSE/GED) A high school equivalency or GED/HSE is a recognized alternative to a high school diploma.
Work-Based Learning (WBL) provides students and job seekers with real-life work experience that compliments their academic studies. Typically they include job shadowing, mentoring, internships, and apprenticeships.
A Team Helper is anyone who is the lead support person to the job seeker with disabilities along their career journey. It can be a family member, friend, employment counselor, Disability Resource Coordinator (DRC), or case manager.
A stop-gap job is temporary employment until something better or more permanent can be obtained.
Basic needs refers to the goods and services necessary for a minimum standard of living. This includes access to food, safe shelter, clothing, and sanitation. Reliable transportation and education can also be considered a basic need.
A safe space is intended to be free of bias, conflict, criticism, or potentially threatening actions, ideas, or conversations.
Competitive integrated employment (CIE) is work performed by a person with an impairment or health-related disability (health impairment) within an integrated setting. Wages are at least minimum wage or higher and at a rate comparable to non-disabled workers performing the same tasks.
