Learn about different resume styles with an emphasis on what works and what doesn't work. Learn what employers look for in a resume. This workshop will give you the tools to fine tune your current resume or create a new one.

LinkedIn is the largest professional networking site available today. See how it can help you reinvent your job search. You will walk away with a basic understanding of how LinkedIn works, along with how to make an all-star rated profile to expand your network and connect you to employers.

FUNDING YOUR EDUCATION

Stumped by the financial aid process? This workshop is geared towards prospective students and parents who are facing the challenge of applying for financial aid. Learn how to navigate the process from figuring out how much college will cost, applying for federal and state aid, reviewing and comparing award letters, to accepting awards and preparing to pay back borrowed money.

INTERVIEWING WORKSHOP

Assist with answering those difficult questions, etiquette, body language and follow up; set up mock interviews for individualized attention.

JOB SEARCH EXPLORATION

This workshop is designed to help you focus on self-exploration to begin your job search. In this workshop, you will explore careers that match your skill set, interests, barriers to employment and goals.

WARM SOFT SKILLS = COLD CASH

In today’s world it is not just necessary to have the technical skills to perform a job. Employer’s today want employees who exhibit personal traits that enable them to interact effectively with customers and their coworkers. These skills are commonly referred to as “Soft Skills” – skills an employee needs to get along and work well with others.

POSITIVE ATTITUDE = GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE
This workshop focuses on developing a positive attitude with the emphasis on using this in the workplace to promote great customer service.

COMPUTER BASICS WORKSHOP SERIES

• COMPUTER BASICS, NAVIGATION, AND TYPING—A basic introduction to the computer needed for a job search: turn it on, mouse use, saving, desktop, basic navigation buttons, shutting down, typing practice. Some lecture and a lot of practice with instructor coaching.
• MS WORD—Basics of creating and saving a written document, such as a resume. Bold, underline, tab, bullet, typing & spell check. We will be working on your personal resume as practice. Some lecture and a lot of practice with instructor coaching.
• GMAIL—Set up a Gmail account. Learn the basics of opening mail, composing an email with attachment & sending it, replying and forwarding emails, and organizing your mailbox. Some lecture and a lot of practice with instructor coaching.
• SEARCH AND APPLY ONLINE—Registering with Indeed, uploading a resume, looking for a job, and step-by-step practice applying online. Some lecture and a lot of practice with instructor coaching.

ADA & DISCLOSURE WORKSHOP: Learn about your employment rights as protected under the Americans With Disabilities Act. Discussion will include your right to choose if you want to disclose your disability, when to disclose, how to disclose, and how to request an accommodation.

ALL ABOUT CIVIL SERVICE: Are you interested in Civil Service but confused by the process? Learn how to locate job openings and listings for local cities, counties, and NYS. Receive test-taking tips and advice on preparing for an exam, review sample exam questions, obtain applications, fee waivers and cross-filer forms as well as 55a/b/c information.

JOB FAIR PREPARATION: Are you prepared? Recieve information on how to prepare for an upcoming job fair.

TRANSFERRABLE SKILLS: Participants will learn the value of and how to identify their transferrable skills and how it relates to their job search process.

CIVIL SERVICE: Participants will learn how to locate job openings and listings for State, County and Federal employment.

EXPERIENCED WORKER: Have you been told you are “too experienced” or feel that chronological age is a barrier? This workshop will offer tips to highlight your skills and may increase your success in your job search.
