Cybersecurity training for both employed and unemployed individuals

The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency recently issued a security agency warning called “Shields Up” – (https://www.cisa.gov/shields-up) to inform the Nation of potential malicious cyber activity against the U.S. homeland. Every organization—large and small—must be prepared to respond to disruptive cyber incidents. Now more than ever, Americans and American businesses must remain vigilant against damaging cyber attacks.

CDO Workforce has a grant to fund Cybersecurity training for both employed and unemployed individuals. This training funding is available to both individuals and to company's IT staff who wish to increase their IT and Cybersecurity knowledge. CDO has partnered with SUNY Delhi to offer a number of on-line Cybersecurity Certifications that are fully funded by Project Excite. These Cybersecurity certifications include:

Certified Ethical Hacker
Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP)
CompTIA Certification Training Network+, Security+
CompTIA Certification Training: A+ Network +, Security+
Information Security Training

Want to be a Recovery Coach?

FOR-DO is offering a Recovery Peer Advocate certification training scheduled for April 11 - April 16 in Delhi - 46 hours of training.

Recovery Peer Advocate certification:

To pursue certification as a Recovery Peer Advocate, an individual must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Hold a high school diploma or have their GED and pass the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium (IC-RC) exam;
  • Complete 46 hours of required training (advocacy, mentoring and education, recovery and wellness, and ethical responsibility);
  • Complete at least 500 hours of related volunteer or work experience; and
  • Complete at least 25 hours of supervision by qualified supervisory staff
  • After completing the 46 hours training in the required domains, you are eligible for a provisional certification (CPRA-P), valid for 2 years while you complete the remaining requirements for full certification.
  • Upon completion of all required training and related work hours (paid or unpaid), candidates can apply for nonclinical peer positions and upgrade the full Recovery Peer Advocate Certification. To receive full certification, you must submit an application, and register for and pass the Peer Recovery exam. Your certification is valid for 3 years.

The New York Certification Board is the only entity authorized by OASAS to oversee the training and certification of Certified Recovery Peer Advocates in New York State.

Now is a good time to start a Family Daycare Center with the help of the Childcare Desert Grant.

The Grant provides $14,000 per year for two years - so a grand total of $28,000 for starting a Family Daycare program in your home for 6 to 8 children.

Catholic Charities in Oneonta will assist individuals interested in opening Family Daycare programs in Otsego and Delaware Counties. The Grant application dates are: April 11 to May 19, 2022.
