New Training Opportunities: The Rural Healthcare Grant and Project Excite

CDO Workforce has two new grants available that local job seekers can access for training.

Rural Healthcare Grant

The Rural Healthcare Grant aims to serve U.S. Military Veterans and unemployed Youth (ages 18 to 24) across 17 counties of Upstate New York. Students attending training for direct care jobs in healthcare may be eligible for a $2,000 scholarship towards tuition. To be eligible, applicants must: reside within one of the following counties: Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Fulton, Montgomery, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, Jefferson, Lewis, Warren, Washington, Essex, St. Lawrence, Hamilton, Franklin or Clinton. Eligible candidates must be either a U.S. military veteran or be between 18 and 24 years old and be unemployed. Trainees must be completing their training by May of 2024. Project Excite Grant

SUNY Delhi's Office of Continuing Education and Professional Studies is excited to share this opportunity for individuals to earn their certification in the following Business and IT Programs - costs covered by the Project Excite Grant!  This program is 100% funded by Project Excite, a United States Department of Labor H-1B One Workforce Grant.  Individuals who are at least 18 years old, with at least a high school level education, and are NYS residents are able to be funded up to $3,000 per person toward earning certifications in the IT field, to be completed no later than May 2024. 

Courses and their certifications that we offer are all 100% online and are all eligible for this grant!  Interested individuals should fill out the H-1B Grant Program Registration and, once approved, we will contact you and register you for your selected course.  Visit https://www.delhi.edu/continuinged/project-excite/index.php  for full course descriptions, prerequisites, and requirements.

SkillUp® Metrix Learning

Are you looking to:

This online skills training is a great opportunity for youth with disabilities and populations such as veterans, young adults, and dislocated workers to obtain work based knowledge which will make it easier to qualify and be hired for in demand jobs.

Metrix Learning® is a comprehensive platform that delivers career exploration tools, career pathways, job search tools, assessments, and online skill training. Customers will have the ability to virtually register, update job skills via e-learning courses, track their progress (e.g., course completions, hours, skill badges, etc.) and explore careers.

New York State Workforce Training Provider List: The New York State Eligible Training Provider List (NYS-ETPL) was established in compliance with Title 1 of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998. The purpose of the ETPL is to present a broad and diverse selection of training choices to support employment goals of individuals.

Demand Occupation List:  The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 requires that certain training programs lead to employment in demand occupations. These demand occupations are determined by the Local Workforce Investment Board and are presented here.
