"GO Green" Summer Institute for Middle School Students
The CDO STEM Leadership Council is pleased to have offered a Summer 2011 GO Green Institute for current 6th and 7th grade students in area schools. This institute at SUNY Oneonta was a week-long exploration of “green” topics and how scientists think and work. The students’ opportunities were to learn together on exciting hands-on projects presented by college professors/scientists and pre-service teachers who are Noyce Scholars.
July 18 through 23, 2011 were the dates for this five and one-half day program held on the SUNY Oneonta campus from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.
This program is made possible by sponsorship from the Southern Tier Wired 13N Partnership, Otis A. Thompson Foundation, Milford Central School Foundation, Amphenol Aerospace Inc., CDO Workforce, SUNY Oneonta, and the Oneonta World of Learning. Additional sponsors are being sought for next year's program; please contact Audrey Benkenstein, CDO Workforce Investment Board 432-4800 x109. Contributions may be made to the Oneonta World of Learning (OWL), a tax-exempt organization, for this program.
